Keeping Active

Keeping Active

Keeping active through play helps children maintain a healthy body composition. It is also fundamental to support brain development and enhance muscular and bone health. Furthermore, physical activity helps children improve their social skills, concentration and confidence. In short, keeping active is totally vital to your child’s all-round well being.

You may be surprised by the number of hours children need to stay active for with guidelines from the NHS here. Here at Jungle Tots Children’s Day Nursery, we think this is a minimum and our team build in active play well beyond these guidelines.

We have so much space at Jungle Tots between the good-sized nursery rooms, amazing garden. We also get free exclusive access to Safari Adventure Play before they open in the morning and when it is quiet later in the day. So no matter in the weather, your children will always get lots of active play.

We also are fully aware that according to extensive research,  time spent in free, imaginative play helps children develop a critical cognitive skill know as “executive function”. This is known to be a better predictor of school success than a child’s IQ.  Not all active play has to be structured and our nursery team cleverly build in active play throughout the day.
